  • Recently I had an off-grid solar system installed on my property. This system is on a small rural property but needs a fairly heavyweight setup to run a home and a workshop.

    Hugh designed a comprehensive system that uses two arrays of panels through an Outback inverter to a bank of lead-acid batteries (my choice), with a backup generator.

    The system is not the cheapest on the market. I got two quotes — one from Hugh and one from another company. I was lucky enough to get an independent appraisal of both quotes by another professional in the solar industry in Australia, who advised me that Hugh’s system would be the most trouble-free.

    I must say, Hugh was very thorough with designing the system, going to a lot of trouble to make sure it would cope with the potential load placed on it. Then came the installation, which went seamlessly.
